About us...

Jonathan and Katherine Hemingway founded Hemingwayscapes, Inc. in 2002. Together they share 25 years of professional landscape experience and 5 years into a wonderful marriage. Their first daughter, Elizabeth Joy was born on July 7, 2006 and it has brought an amazing and loving new perspective into their lives.

Jon has had a passion for earthwork ever since he was a young boy in the sandbox. Today, Jon brings an expertise in creative hardscaping installed to last into future generations. He has a talent for delicate machine work and a solid knowledge of lawn and hedge maintenance. Jon also has been successfully working with organic compost, applying it to lawncare, shrubs, flowers and trees and eliminating the need for any chemical fertilizers.

Katie brings an artistic touch to the garden side of the business, and a love of working with a varied array of clients. She designs plantings to suit her client's unique needs, whether it be formal, natural, or low-maintenance. Her solid knowledge of plant materials will have your gardens thriving in Nantucket's often spontaneous climate. Katie also manages the accounting side of the business, overseeing all of the office work so that accuracy is guaranteed when invoicing clients.

Hemingwayscapes is fully licensed and insured, and offers wonderful benefits to their valued and well-paid employees. Their teamwork and dedication to a high level of service has given them long lasting relationships with each of their clients. Jon and Katie personally return each phone call and are committed to meeting each homeowner's needs and requests.

Aside from their client dedication, Hemingwayscapes strives to preserve Nantucket's natural resources. While they do service clients that ask for synthetic treatments, Hemingwayscapes is a primarily organic landcare business. Katie and Jon's love of Nantucket drive them to keep their business organic, so that everyone may enjoy the bounty of our wonderful island for many more years to come.
